Melton Mowbray Open Gardens

Please note
This event ran in 2025 but we don't yet have this year's details. When we get them, we'll add them, but in the meantime we include below event information from last year to remind you about the event.

approx 9 gardens opened Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Sunday 8th June 2025
11.00am to 4.30pm

Come and see the interesting market town of Melton Mowbray, and call in at a wide range of open gardens, most of which are not normally open to the public. Some are large, some are quite small; some are impressive, some unusual, some more ordinary; not all are pristine but all are pleasant and interesting. Several which opened last year will be open again but there are also one or two new ones.

Melton is a lovely place to visit, and we will provide a map showing the locations of all the gardens plus a brief description of each so you can plan a route to take you round the ones which interest you most. Some will have plants or garden-related items for sale, and some will provide refreshments. You may like to include a stroll through one of the town's parks.

This event was popular last year, and our idea is to offer an enjoyable day out, browsing and chatting in pleasant surroundings. Not 'show gardens', but you may pick up some new ideas. We hope some of our visitors can give us some gardening tips too.

Proceeds:  All proceeds to Friends of St. John's Church, Melton Mowbray, for the building of a new parish and community hall next to the church. Work on this has now started, and although much of the former garden and car park are now part of the building site, if your walk takes you past it, do call in through the iron gate to see the beautiful walled memorial garden; a real haven of peace in the centre of the town.

Plant sales:  There will be plants for sale, some donated by a local plant nursery and some grown by the garden owners.

Cost:  £5.00 adults, accompanied under 16s free.

How to get tickets / programmes:  Buy tickets on the day from any participating garden, or in advance by emailing your request. A list and map is also available on request.
