Packington Open Gardens

Please note
This event ran in 2025 but we don't yet have this year's details. When we get them, we'll add them, but in the meantime we include below event information from last year to remind you about the event.

approx 9 gardens opened Packington, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire.
Bank Holiday Monday 25th August 2025
2.00pm to 7.00pm.

As well as a varied selection of interesting and beautiful gardens, cream teas and refreshments will be served. Other attractions include ice-creams, stalls, a History Group exhibition, live musical entertainment and a quarter peal of bells at 2.30pm.

A crowd pulling highlight at the conclusion of our Open Gardens event is the Packington Duck Race, starting at 5.30pm. Dozens of numbered plastic ducks released at the Hall Lane bridge into the village Gillwiskaw Brook, drift along the brook with the stream flow and the first duck to reach Little Lane footbridge finish-line is the winner. Competitors can follow their ducks from the stream banks along Mill Street. The excitement amongst the duck owners (and parents) as the finish-line is approached, has to be experienced to be believed.

Prizes are awarded for each race. Purchase your duck from the organisers at the roadside stand on Mill Street.
