Llanychaer Open Gardens
 | This event is resting for 2023 Sorry, but Llanychaer Open Gardens isn't running this year. We'll keep you posted about next year's event details when they are known, but in the meantime we include below details from a previous year to remind you about the event |
Llanychaer, near Fishguard, Pembrokeshire Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July 2022 From 1.300pm
After an enforced three year fallow period, this will be our eighth Open Garden event with local gardens open along with a floral competition and display at our beautiful secluded church.
We offer a choice of venues from an immaculate cottage garden crammed with flowers and vegetables, to larger gardens with a variety of distinctive features.
Open for you to see are the grounds of an attractive medieval farmhouse, with borders amassed with selective planting, abundant lawns, a lovely water feature topped off with paths cutting through acres of grass land and trees with glorious views overlooking the village and neighbouring countryside.
We have a riverside property that boasts its own small lake with a wrap-around raised decked area over one end. This is an evolving garden with extensive grounds; it's a picture now, and certainly one to watch out for in time to come.
An eye-catching garden for us this year has a bias towards wildlife, with a combination of cultivated and native plants mixed together to attract insects, birds and other indigenous species. This beautifully crafted sanctuary in the centre of the village shows how with a little imagination, both the needs of wildlife and the desire for a beautiful garden can be achieved.
Every garden is unique, with each showing the dedication and pride of their passionate owners, typified by one whose immaculate grounds with colourful displays is the setting for a model railway.
All proceeds raised via the Open Gardens event will go towards village projects.
Plant sales A selection of locally-grown plants will be on sale.
