Cawthorne Open Gardens
 | This event is resting for 2024 Sorry, but Cawthorne Open Gardens isn't running next year. We'll keep you posted about the event details when they are known, but in the meantime we include below details from a previous year to remind you about the event |
Cawthorne, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June 2022 11.00am to 5.00pm
Discover this picture postcard Yorkshire village named by Savills as one of the most desirable in Britain. Surrounded by rolling countryside the village has a lovely Parish Church, an impressive Methodist Church, a Museum, a gastro pub, a restaurant, Village Store with tea rooms, an Antique Centre and more. Join the hundreds who flock to this popular biennial event.
There is little evidence of the iron and coal mining industry which once thrived here other than the stunning Georgian Mansion of Cannon Hall which was home to the Spencer Stanhopes who made their fortune from the local iron industry.
A range of gardens will be open to visitors, including some open for the first time in 2022. Quality refreshments include sandwiches, cakes, hot sausage baps, a barbeque and cream teas. Live music in some gardens, and entertainment for our younger visitors will be provided, including treasure hunts to suit children of all ages and a chance to try Victorian games.
A courtesy minibus service will run regularly between gardens. Dogs on short leads are welcome in most gardens.
All proceeds for the restoration of All Saints Parish Church, and the children's charity Exodus.
