Thornton Open Gardens
Thornton, near Bradford, West Yorkshire Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June 2023 12.00noon to 5.00pm
A fascinating selection of beautiful hillside gardens in the birthplace of the Brontés. The gardens range from a work in progress family garden to a terraced hillside plot, some have wildlife ponds and wilderness corners. Several gardens have vegetable plots and others have extensive herbaceous borders and shrubberies. Some are small and hidden away and some are extensive and have wonderful views of Thornton Viaduct. One of these is the garden of Kipping House where Elizabeth Firth, friend of the Brontés, lived.
You can also visit the community-run Sapgate Garden, some of the unique hedged Top Royd allotments and the gardens in the Bell Chapel where Patrick Bronté used to preach. To get from one garden to another be sure to explore the snickets and ginnels wending their way through the village.
Refreshments are available at several village locations and in some gardens. Dogs on a lead welcome.
All proceeds to go to Brontë Birthplace Community Ownership Campaign.

Cost £5.00 per adult, covers both days, accompanied under 16s free.
