A new venture! See the attractive town of Melton Mowbray and pop into a diverse group of gardens, most of which have never been open to the public before. Some are large, some are quite small; some are impressive, some more ordinary; not all are pristine but all are pleasant and interesting.
The garden of our historic St. John's Church will be open along with the church, so you can see the newly restored painted designs - coincidentally based on floral motifs. The Convent garden will also be open.
Melton is a lovely place to visit, and we will provide a map showing the locations of all the gardens plus a brief description of each so you can plan a route to take you round the ones which interest you most. Some will have plants or garden-related items for sale, and some will provide refreshments.
We have never done this before, and our idea is to offer an enjoyable day out, browsing and chatting in pleasant surroundings. Not 'show gardens', but you may pick up some new ideas. Maybe some of our visitors can give us some gardening tips too.
All proceeds to Friends of St. John's Church, Melton Mowbray, for the renovation of the church.
Plant sales
There will be plants for sale, some donated by a local supermarket and some grown by the garden owners.
Cost
£5.00 adults, accompanied under 16s free.
How to get event passports
Buy tickets on the day from any participating garden. It should also soon be possible to buy tickets in advance by emailing your request.

Directions
The postcode will take you to St. John's church, where a small car park is available free of charge (please ignore the 'Private' notice). There is also on-street parking which is free on Sundays. Maps showing the garden locations will be provided when you buy a ticket.
